The Prado, Thyssen and Reina Sofia Museums are among the most popular in Madrid. Located on a wide avenue with gardens and fountains, all three of them hold one of the biggest art collections in the world. You can admire the works of Velázquez, Goya, Picasso, Dalí, Van Gogh, Hopper and Miró, among other artists.
Soar over the city, from its monumental buildings to the large green areas. On the first Sunday of every month, you can also watch the sky at the digital planetarium. The Madrid Cable Car has 80 gondolas and travels 2.5 km, at a maximum height of 40 metres above ground.
“From Madrid to the sky”: this was the description of going up 92 metres on panoramic lifts to the top of the Faro de Moncloa, in Madrid’s university district. The former transmission tower affords a view to the Royal Palace, Almudena Cathedral and Guadarrama mountains.
Spanish tradition extends the Christmas season to 6 January, the day when the Three Wise Men arrive in town and put on marionette puppet shows, dances and concerts. The “cavalcade” starts at the San Juan de la Cruz square and ends in Cibeles, through the Paseo de la Castellana and Recoletos avenues.
Passionate and intense, flamenco is a typical show in Madrid. From the most obscure tablaos (flamenco restaurants) to the great flamenco halls, artists excite the audience with the expressiveness and feeling in their dance and singing.
